Firestorm news and party prep

Posted at 2pm on 10/25/07 | Filed under News | Comment »

Just sending a “hello” and “hope you’re safe” out to the universe in the midst of the SD Firestorm. We had a little panic when one of our dancers and our stylist were stuck in the Danger Zone, but thankfully these lovely ladies are safe and sound. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the neighbors who were not so fortunate.

We’ve had to re-envision some aspects of our event this Saturday to account for unforeseen issues relating to the crisis, but I think that ultimately it is for the best and that we will still have the most wicked Halloween get-down in the city. And, if it were possible, we’re even more excited to share our first Issue with you, because times like these are exactly when we need to be engaging in community-wide conversation.

This week’s emergency ravaged our county, but pulling together and mobilizing efforts are what GGG is here to do. Yes we send out our best wishes, but we also intend to pair that with our best actions. We hope you will join us, starting with this Saturday.

Till then!

Things to get psyched about

Posted at 11am on 10/19/07 | Filed under News, Appearances | Comment »

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the lapse in blogging, but trust me, we have been anything but idle. Since our September soft launch, GGG has been blooming in all areas…

  • Our next gig is a Costume Party on Saturday, October 27th, once again at San Diego Sports Club featuring our friends The Deadbirds behind the table. We are going to debut our first Issue Flyer, which is really what we’re all about. It will also be posted here for your download after the gig, so be sure to check back!
  • We have new shirts you can buy at-cost, with great thanks owed to our hugely talented and generous designer Justin and our equally fabulous friends at Heavy Press.
  • Our dancers are ready to wow you with what is bound to become the Latest Craze — just call us the new CPDRC inmates!
  • And in a small morsel of bad news, our 11/2 gig has been canceled due to the venue’s scheduling error. We’re still hoping to find a new place for our friends the Can Kickers to play that Saturday (11/3), so if anyone can help us out, fire us an email. This is a really great band coming to us all the way from Connecticut, and we don’t think their west coast tour would be complete without San Diego. Furthermore, we don’t think your weekend would be complete without hearing their newest record. So one way or the other, be sure to give them a listen!

Well I’ll wrap it up for now. See you all next weekend!

Website Launch Party

Posted at 10am on 09/23/07 | Filed under Appearances | 5 Comments »

Thank you SO much to everyone who came out last night to celebrate the launch of this here website! I’ve never had such fun at the Sports Club before — you all truly brought a special energy to it, and I can’t wait to see it again next month at our Halloween party (Oct. 27th). It will be even crazier, because GGG will be fitted in our go go attire and debuting our dance! But of course the big surprise is going to be the presentation of our first issue, so you’ll want to check that out.

Special thanks to DJs Condor Furlong and Philip Blackbird for inviting us (and our beautiful friends) to bring havoc to their spot.

OK well that’s all the typing I can muster pre-coffee. I’m off!

Power to you,

e

First dancers rehearsal

Posted at 10pm on 09/11/07 | Filed under News, Appearances | Comment »

Hey hey lads and ladies,

After much preparation, the GGG dancers ran through our first rehearsal tonight. It was a lot of fun, and we are really excited to share our moves with you, and more importantly, our message. (Although I think the neighbors gathered outside of Jess’s window were more interested in our moves.)

Be sure to come see The Deadbirds spin at the Sports Club on September 22nd for a chance to meet us and maybe get a sneak peak of what is to come. (We make no promises — but we can’t resist a good teaser!)

If you can’t make that, be double-sure to save the date of October 27th, when we will host a British Zombie Invasion Halloween Party at the same locale for our official debut! You won’t want to miss this one. Remember, announced gigs are going to be rare for us in the future, so get us while the getting’s easy.

Thanks to everyone who has offered their support and friendship to us so far. We are pumped and proud to be a part of your community and to make it better with you one groove at a time!

Power to you,
e
