Revolutions, Resolutions, and What’s to Come

Hey everyone!  I hope you all had a nice break filled with empty calories and long lost friends.  I think I caught a germ or two on my flight back to SD, so I’m trying to use my sick time to catch up on blogging and such.

Volunteering and goal-making peak around the start of a new year, and we aim to help you put those intentions to use well past the holiday season.  One of my resolutions is to get on the ball with this website!  The girls and I have been amassing plenty of hot tips (not to mention our flyers) to post, and we are eager to share.  Expect a more regular flow of updates here and some fancy new photos on our Flickr page.

I’ve also started a GGG del.icio.us account — it’s not very robust at the moment but will be growing soon.  If you are part of this social bookmarking website, please add us to your network and send us suggested links.  It should be a great way to quickly and broadly share information outside of our more detailed digests.

As promised, we plan to dance twice as much this month to kick off 2008 right.  You’ll want to subscribe to our Tweets to get the scoop on where we are.  See you soon!

Crashing Mo’s

Posted at 12pm on 12/01/07 | Filed under Appearances | Comment »

Last night we went guerrilla on Urban Mo’s, a staple of Hillcrest, to debut GGG’s November issue: eating local.

We picked this topic because, while always important, buying local produce will really help our neighborhood farms recover from the recent firestorm, which destroyed many crops, greenhouses, and even some farmers’ homes. The flyer will be up soon in English and Spanish along with related resources, so come back to check it out and pass it on.

As for the performance, it was a blast! We entered incognito and costumed ourselves in the ladies room — at one point an “employee” came in and stuck his head over the door to ask us why there were so many girls in there. Turns out, he was not an employee, just a dude in a sweatshirt drinking a beer. So I went a little Sugar-Free (F)ice Tea on his ass, and our dreamy site manager stepped in to show that dude the door.

We had a ball dancing and mingling with people after. Unfortunately this gig was so stealth we didn’t take any pictures for you, but let me assure you we sizzle in full costume, and our four-man posse didn’t look too shabby in their “G” wristbands either. Thanks for representing, boys!

Mo’s loved us so much they have invited us to perform again for a special occasion… Once we have it all confirmed we will announce it here, so get psyched!

Now to eat some post-party pancakes…

Can Kickers Show

Posted at 1am on 10/31/07 | Filed under News | Comment »

Good news! Our friends the Can Kickers have reinstated their show for this Friday (11/2 — November already, yikes!) at Hot Monkey Love Cafe near SDSU. Due to the last minute change, we may not all be there in full go go force, but we will definitely be forking over the $8 cover to support this wildly entertaining trio on their last west coast tour.

Come join us!

October Recap

Whew!

Another crazy Saturday at San Diego Sports Club. The costume party was a blast, drawing in over 200 flirts and freakshows, just our kind of people. Who do you guys think earned the title of Best Costume?

Pow!

Big thanks are once again owed to dueling DJs of the night, The Deadbirds. And of course to everyone who spent their Halloween weekend with us! We hope you got a kick out of our dance preview and learned a little something about making a difference in the wake of this month’s fire emergency. The downloadable flyer is coming soon.

Oh, and if the Blue Balls Dodgeball team is out there somewhere — our dance-off challenge still stands. Name the place!

Festively yours,
Sugar-free (F)ice Tea
